How To Transform Shopping Bags into Plastic Yarn

Posted by Jenni Shah on

Plarn is plastic yarn and can be used to weave, knit or crochet with to make any number of things like baskets and bins, bags (like my Recycled Bag Bags!), hats, mats, shoes, hammocks and much more.  The secret in this tutorial is to cut the bags into a length of plastic that is METERS long!  No more joining tiny loops together (that would drive me up the wall!), get straight into creating your project!

Plastic bags are everywhere.  It is exciting to see more and more retailers moving away from plastic packaging but there is a long way to go.  In the meantime we all have piles of supermarket and other store plastic bags in our cupboards.  We can use them a bin liners or for the kids' swimming gear, but how about up-cycling them into a hundred and one different objects by turning them into PLARN?
